Diwali is one of the most important festivals in India. It is called the “Festival of Lights.” Indian people have celebrated Diwali for many years. During this festival, families clean their houses, wear new clothes, and decorate their homes with small oil lamps called ‘diyas’.

In South India, many people start celebrating Diwali early in the morning. They take special oil baths before sunrise, wear traditional clothes, and enjoy sweets with their families. In Japan, people also have festivals that bring families together. For example, during the New Year holiday, many people visit shrines and spend time with their family and relatives. Both Diwali and Japanese festivals help people feel close to their families and communities.

An interesting fact is that India becomes very bright during Diwali. People even say it looks as if it could be seen from space. Another interesting fact is that the date changes every year because it follows the lunar calendar. Diwali is also a festival of sharing kindness and happiness. If people were kind to one another every day, the world would be a brighter place.

Diwali has become popular around the world. Many people enjoy learning about its traditions and meaning.
