What comes to mind when you think of Mexico? Maybe tacos or the movie "Coco." But did you know that my hometown, Tijuana, is the birthplace of the world-famous Caesar Salad? You might think it came from Italy, but it was actually created here on July 4, 1924, by an Italian chef named Cesare Cardini. He worked at "Caesar's Hotel", and that's how it got its name.

The salad is made right in front of you. It is one reason that it became popular in the 1920s and 30s. To make it, you need chopped garlic, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, an egg yolk, lime, olive oil, and Parmesan cheese. These ingredients are mixed in a bowl with four large lettuce leaves. When everything is tossed together, you have the world-famous Caesar Salad ready to enjoy.

This simple but delicious dish has been enjoyed by many people around the world and continues to be a favorite for people who love fresh and flavorful salads.
