How do you show respect to the elderly? Is showing respect important for you? If yes, it is the same for us Filipinos.In the Philippines, we show respect by “pagmamano". Pagmamano is a gesture to show respect for the elderly. We bow and press our forehead to the back of their right hand. We do this when we enter their home or see them in meetings. It is also a way to request a blessing from them.
I think it is the same here in Japan. I see many people bow their heads to show respect to others. It is a wonderful experience for me to meet many Japanese people and learn how respectful they are.
